RUIZ REPULLO, Carmen. What is Hidden behind Sexual Violence in Adolescence? (leiho berri batean irekitzen da) Dosier Graó, January 2019, 25-28. Graó, January 2019. ISSN 2462-5930

This article focuses on sexual violence that takes place in adolescence. First, it provides a brief conceptual analysis of the spheres and forms that this violence acquires; then, the data backing it up is provided; and, finally, emphasis will be placed on unequal affective-sexual education, together with the construction of hegemonic masculinity, as the main causes that sustain and produce this sexist violence.

Criminal and violent acts are of great concern to society. They have pernicious effects on the perpetrators themselves, on their victims, on their families, on their community and on society as a whole. With virtual social networks, it is not necessary to be in direct contact with the victim in order to perpetrate violence: deferred aggression can be perpetrated via the Internet. There are multiple theoretical approaches to violent and criminal behaviour, with a broad consensus that these behaviours are usually learned from the groups to which the boy or girl belongs and that serve as a frame of reference for them as well as providing them with some kind of benefit. With these premises in mind, the paper provides some recommendations for the prevention of juvenile violence and delinquency.

Suicidal behaviour is a social and health problem in youth. The goal of this paper is to provide a brief introduction to suicidal behaviour, focusing on prevention guidelines for families and schools. In the first place, a conceptual delimitation of suicidal behaviour is provided, the main myths associated with this phenomenon are commented, as well as the prevalence rates and the impact it causes at multiple levels. Then, the prevention of suicidal behaviour in youths is discussed. More specifically, the paper identifies the main risk and protection factors, it addresses the importance of early identification and detection by means of screening tools and it discusses specific guidelines required to act in at-risk situations both in the family and at school. The need to turn towards models that favour the promotion of mental health among youths, beyond prevention, are also discussed.
