The Basque Youth Observatory has published a new study (in Basque (PDF, 1019 KB) and Spanish (PDF, 1010 KB) ) on family support in the area of access to housing. The data is based on the results of a survey conducted by the Observatory in October 2025 among a total of 2,741 young people in the Basque Country aged between 18 and 34.
Among the results obtained, the following stand out:
- 1% of young people in the Basque Country aged 18-34 have received some form of family assistance, in the form of loans or donations, to access housing. This amounts to around 65,000 young people.
- The aid comes mainly from parents.
- Most young people who have received a loan or donation from family members say that this aid has greatly facilitated their emancipation.
