This paper seeks to describe the process of developing a narrative tool (storytelling) based on narrative persuasion theories and the Prochaska and DiClemente (1982) transtheoretical model so that it can be used by education, health and social intervention professionals to prevent cannabis use among adolescents aged 12 to 18 in a global and selective way. The process of creating this audio-visual tool involved the following stages: identifying psychosocial risk profiles of cannabis use from a review of the scientific literature and interviews with professionals; analysing the life stories of adolescent cannabis users; creating two stories based on gender; validating the tool through focus groups; and designing an intervention proposal for professionals. In conclusion, we describe the process of creating a narrative device together with an intervention proposal based on scientific, vital and professional evidence, which is intended to be useful for professionals working in the field of cannabis use prevention among adolescents.

MARTÍNEZ DE LA OSSA SÁENZ LÓPEZ, R. and MARCOS DEL CANO, A.M., 2022. Bioethical issues in the health care of transgender minors. RDUNED. Revista de derecho UNED, no. 29, pp. 389-409. ISSN 1886-9912

Health care for transgender children is a challenge at the moment, placing paediatricians, endocrinologists, families as well as the children and youths in a complex cultural scenario. On the one hand, the need to contact health services is intrinsic to the fact of transsexuality, which is evidenced by the extensive development of legislation in recent years, which has culminated in the transgender bill recently passed by the Spanish government. However, although the primary purpose is to end the pathologisation of the group, many problems need to be examined in the context of minors: What is in the best interests of the minor? Who can grant informed consent, and is it valid under certain circumstances? Do children and families understand that the treatments offered could raise doubts about efficacy and safety among the professional staff caring for them, or even that they could be seen as experimental to a certain extent? The recent Bell v Tavistock judgment in the High Court of England and Wales is a key document that we will analyse in search of some clues.

Prisma Social: revista de investigación social

SEVILLANO MONJE, V. and GONZÁLEZ-MONTEAGUDO, J., 2022. Preparing for transition from protection centres in Andalusia. Prisma Social: revista de investigación social, no. 38, pp. 179-200. ISSN 1989-3469

Youth between 15 and 17 years of age are the majority age group in residential care in Andalusia and will have to face adult life at the age of 18. This qualitative study aims to describe the factors affecting their preparation for adult life and the impact on young people after leaving residential centres. Semi-structured open-ended interviews were conducted with 17 professionals in Andalusia. The results show that the preparation process depends on the child’s characteristics, the intervention strategies of the professionals and the difficulties encountered by the child. These factors affect the successful transition to adulthood of young people leaving residential care. The conclusion is that intervention strategies need to be reformulated to give more importance to the management of emotions, the role of the family and the development of independent living skills. Finally, we put forward several proposals to improve the policies and the management of residential centres. These proposals include promoting assisted flats for children under 16 years of age and professional support after leaving protection centres.
