The course will be held in Bilbao on 8, 15 and 22 November and in Donostia (San Sebastian) on 9, 16 and 23 November.
The Basque Youth Observatory is organising a workshop on 'Perspective and Educational Tools for Working on Equality and Masculinity with Adolescent Males'. This workshop will be prepared and delivered by Juan Manuel Feito Guerrero, a member of Piper Txuriak, an association of men in favour of equality.
The general goal of the course is to provide professionals with a gender perspective that will facilitate their work with adolescent males in formal and non-formal educational settings, along with educational tools designed for this purpose.
Specific goals:
- Identify the main gender socialisation mechanisms that shape and construct a type of masculinity that conditions men's lives in our culture and society.
- Identify the main male gender stereotypes and attributes, as opposed to "feminine" ones.
- Understand how all this conditions and harms the lives of "males" on an emotional, mental and physical level.
- Present types of masculinity as an alternative to the hegemonic patriarchal model.
- Introduce and experiment with some specific educational tools with which professionals can work with adolescent males, and which are consistent with the proposed perspective.

The course will be given in SPANISH, although each participant may use Spanish or Basque in their contributions.

Profile of participants: Priority will be given to people who work or cooperate with youths (in agencies, associations, public administrations, companies, educational centres, volunteers...) In addition, the order of registration will be taken into account.
