Evaluation of the courses on "Suicide prevention: Gatekeeper level 1 programme"

The BYO has organised three editions of the course in May 2025.

In May 2025, the Basque Youth Observatory has organised three editions of the course "Suicide prevention: gatekeeper level 1 programme". The main objective of this training has been to enable professionals to recognise alarm situations of suicidal behaviour in young people, and to acquire the skills to be able to respond appropriately and refer to specialised health services.

The course was taught by Alexander Muela and Jon García-Ormaza.

Sixty-five people attended and their professional profiles were distributed as follows:

  • 72 % were people linked to formal education.
  • 15 % were people working in the youth field.
  • The rest were people with other professional profiles.

The average evaluations (on a scale of 0 to 10) of the people who have participated in the courses are as follows:
