The Basque Observatory on Childhood, Adolescence and Youth presents a new report — available in Basque (PDF, 9 MB) and Spanish (PDF, 8 MB) — titled "Aurrera Begira 2025. Indicators of Young People's Expectations".
Aurrera Begira 2025 is the 13th edition of a study conducted annually by the Basque Observatory for Children, Adolescents, and Youth to gauge the perceptions of reality and future expectations of young people in the Basque Country.
Through ten indicators, the research addresses important issues for young people, such as personal well-being, employment expectations, and obstacles to becoming independent.
Among the study's key findings are:
- The perception of personal well-being has increased; it has improved for the third consecutive year, reaching 73 out of 100 points.
- Confidence in finding employment within a year has grown among unemployed young people (79%), and students' expectations of finding a job that matches their qualifications upon graduation remain at record highs (82%).
- Leaving home remains a significant challenge: 45% do not see themselves as likely to live independently in 2026, despite wanting to.
- Confidence in the future falls to its lowest level: 53 points out of 100.
