The Basque Youth Observatory is organising the course titled ‘Sex Education: Committed to Quality Relationships’. Maider García de Vicuña Quintana, an expert in Sexology from Incisex and a graduate in Psychology from EMAIZE Centro Sexológico-Sexologia Zentroa will be in charge of preparing and delivering the course.
The overall goal is to use understanding and learning to contribute to the awareness of educational personnel of the importance of attending to the sexuality of the people with whom they work: children and youths. This is fundamental for the comprehensive development of the person, as well as the construction of positive and quality relationships.
The course will be delivered in:
- Venue: Bilbao. Headquarters of the OVJ (Basque Youth Observatory). Huertas de la Villa, 11 – bajo
- Dates: 14, 21 and 28 January 2021

Course objectives:
- Understand the sexological framework as a model for quality attention to sexuality.
- Embrace the importance of educating, caring for and supporting the sexuality of people during childhood and youth.
- Raise awareness among educators to attend to sexuality at different stages.
- Emphasise the importance of dealing with sexuality from its understanding, to influence values that favour a greater knowledge of oneself and other people.
- Understand the importance of attending to sexuality as a basis for good self-esteem and, indeed, to enhance quality relationships.
- Lay the foundations for the development of intervention programmes and action protocols.

Priority will be given to people who work or cooperate with youths (in agencies, associations, public administrations, companies, educational centres, volunteers...) In addition, the order of registration will be taken into account.
