The course will be held in Bilbao on 6, 13 and 20 November and in Vitoria-Gasteiz on 8, 15 and 22 November.
The Basque Youth Observatory is organising a workshop on 'Experiential and shared reflection workshop: challenges of working on masculinity with adolescents. Pedagogical strategies and resources'. This workshop will be prepared and delivered by Juan Manuel Feito Guerrero, a member of Piper Txuriak, an association of men in favour of equality.
The general goal of the course is to generate a learning space based on experience and group reflection that leads participants to understand the meaning and dimension of the work on masculinity, and to develop pedagogical strategies and resources with which to address this issue in an educational setting with adolescents.
Specific goals:
-Identify gender socialisation mechanisms that construct a masculinity based on patriarchy, sexism, misogyny and male domination.
-Analyse the gender stereotypes and attributes of the traditional hegemonic model of masculinity, as opposed to ‘feminine’ ones.
-Understand the ways in which this conditions and harms the lives of men and women at all levels.
-To show alternative masculinities to this hegemonic model that are based on values of equality and cooperation, and respect for the feminine.
-To create specific pedagogical tools with which we educators can carry out this work with adolescents, and to present some of the tools that have been used successfully.

The course will be given in SPANISH, although each participant may use Spanish or Basque in their contributions.

Profile of participants: Priority will be given to people who work or cooperate with youths (in agencies, associations, public administrations, companies, educational centres, volunteers...) In addition, the order of registration will be taken into account.
