The workshop will be held in Bilbao and Donostia
The Basque Youth Observatory is organising a workshop titled 'Pedagogical Tools to Work with Adolescent Boys on Equality and Masculinity'. Juanma Feito Guerrero, from Piper Txuriak, a group of men in favour of equality, will be in charge of preparing and delivering the workshop.
The general goal of the workshop is to provide professionals with a perspective and some pedagogical tools to facilitate their work with adolescent males.
Specific Goals:
- Identify the main gender socialisation mechanisms that shape and result in a type of masculinity that condition the lives of men in our culture and society.
- Identify key male gender stereotypes and attributes as opposed to "female" ones.
- Understand how all this affects and harms the lives of "males", emotionally, mentally and physically.
- Show alternative types of masculinity to the hegemonic patriarchal model.
- Provide concrete pedagogical tools with which professionals can carry out this task with adolescent boys.
Methodology:
We will encourage meaningful learning through guided discussion, work in subgroups or pairs, and an encounter group. The teacher will also provide theoretical explanations.
