Data Protection Day is celebrated each year since 2006. The main goal of this day is to raise awareness and inform the public about data protection rights and how to exercise them.
The Basque Youth Observatory presents data from the report "The youth of the Basque Country and social networks" that this observatory carried out in 2018, based on the results of a survey of 1,512 young people aged between 15 and 29 living in the Basque Country.
The vast majority of these young people say that they take some measure to guarantee their privacy on social networks and that only certain people see their content (87.6%).
Young women adopt measures to guarantee their privacy to a greater extent than young men (91.8% and 83.6% respectively).
If we cross gender and age groups we see that, among men, 15-19 year olds are the ones who adopt privacy measures the most and this percentage decreases as they get older; among women, on the other hand, there are no significant differences according to age.
