May 18th, International Museum Day
In a survey conducted by the Basque Youth Observatory in March 2024, 44.3% of young people aged 15 to 29 said that they had visited a museum in the three months prior to the survey.
This percentage was slightly higher than in November 2022 (41.2%).
The percentage of young men and women in 2024 who reported having visited a museum in the last three months was similar: 44.0% and 44.6% respectively. People aged 15-19 were the most likely to have visited museums, 47.3% exactly, the percentage decreased as age increased.

Museum attendance increased from 2022 to 2024 in all sex and age groups.
This survey was carried out with the participation of 2,053 young people who are part of the GaztePanel of the Basque Youth Observatory. Currently, more than 10,000 young people in the Basque Country aged between 15 and 34 are members of the GaztePanel and collaborate with the Basque Youth Observatory by giving their opinion through the surveys that the Observatory carries out periodically.
The opinion of young people helps to understand the reality of youth and to implement public policies that favour their situation.
