The analysis of youth activisms in a global context has gained increasing relevance in the sub-field of social movements. This monograph addresses some of the key challenges and debates surrounding the understanding of young people’s roles in contemporary protests, as well as the various meanings that political participation holds within a generational context. The central points of debate include the consideration of new contexts of politicization, the transnational dynamics of struggles, the emergence of global feminisms, the rise of conservative reactions, and new activist subjectivities associated with processes of individualisation. It also examines the challenges faced by youth activisms in light of the structural constraints imposed by neoliberalism and the opportunities emerging from crisis situations, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This introductory text provides a critical and multifaceted perspective on how young people are reshaping contemporary activism, highlighting the tensions, contradictions and potentialities inherent in this process.

CABELLOS VIDAL, A., 2024. El proceso de emancipación desde acogimiento residencial. Habilidades adaptativas a la vida adulta y percepciones sobre sus procesos: una aproximación interseccional. Universitat de les Illes Balears.

Among young people in residential foster care there are very diverse profiles and they have different needs, realities and life experiences. At the age of 18 they have to begin their emancipation process quickly and must demonstrate capabilities and responsibilities unimaginable for the rest of the population at that age. This fact means that the young population leaving care must prioritize their economic and residential stability. They look for educational training that can improve their employability quickly, leaving aside any more ambitious project. Likewise, personal and social factors play a fundamental role in this entire process. Having the appropriate preparation and skills to adapt to adulthood is one of the main challenges of the process of emancipation from residential foster care. Emancipation support programs have helped moderate the risk in their transition. However, available places and length of stay are limited.

RENESES BOTIJA, M., RIBERAS GUTIÉRREZ, M. y BUENO GUERRA, N., 2024. ¿Quién comparte fake news?: consumo y distribución de información entre adolescentes y su relación con el discurso de odio. Revista de educación, no. 406, ISSN 0034-8082.

Young people might be especially vulnerable to fake news as they tend to get informed mainly online. Besides, much of the content of these fake news may contain hate speech and therefore support discrimination against minorities. This article presents the results of eight European focus groups and a regionally (Madrid) representative survey about how young people access and share fake news information online carried out in the framework of European Project H2020 RAYUELA. The results show a general preference among young people to get information from social networks despite admitting that traditional media are more reliable because the former use more videos, congregate more people and post comments with opposing opinions. We also describe differences between teenagers sharing fake news on purpose or unintentionally.
